“Inside Her Eyes”

Five visions of the world and of female life itself, linked by a thin red thread of blood and passion and by the passing of time. Their secret is kept in their eyes and on their canvas. The dark is illuminated by the light of the pearls in Leyla Ataya’s portraits and cut by the red fishes that cross the deep sea of silence that surrounds Afarin Sajedi’s women, painted with dark oils on big canvas. The night dissipates and turns into an icy dawn, giving birth to Francesca Di Nunzio’s fairy creatures and the innocent snow queens of Natalie Shau, both of them main characters of a new and surreal mythology, that is not longer frightening, but herald of tenderness and seduction. The first light of the day illuminates the white bends that cover and discover the rosy Eastern girls, while they fill with their beauty the huge paintings of Kwon Kyungyup. Like a story inside a story, the Italian artist Seven Moods, portraits the painters in an imaginary living room, filled with their symbols and their very own creatures. Cinque visioni del mondo e della vita della donna stessa, unite da un sottile fil rouge di sangue e di passione, e dallo scorrere del tempo. Il segreto che custodiscono è dentro i loro occhi e sulle loro tele. Il buio è illuminato dalla luce delle perle nei ritratti di Leila Ataya e spezzato dai pesci rossi che attraversano il profondo mare di silenzio, che circonda le donne di Afarin Sajedi, dipinte con oli scuri su tele enormi. La notte si va dissipando in un’alba glaciale dando origine alle creature fiabesche di Francesca Di Nunzio e alle candide regine della neve di Natalie Shau, entrambe protagoniste di una nuova surreale mitologia, non più spaventosa ma foriera di tenerezza e seduzione. Il chiarore del giorno illumina le bianche bende che ricoprono e scoprono le rosee fanciulle orientali, mentre riempiono della loro bellezza i giganteschi dipinti di Kwon Kyungyup. Come un racconto dentro il racconto l’artista italiano Seven Moods ritrae le pittrici in un salotto immaginario, popolato dei loro simboli e dalle loro stesse creature.
